Having an RV needs you to maintain it in the best possible condition. There are simple things you can do yourself to keep it in great condition. You need to inspect the RV’s roof for leaks regularly. You will experience leaks when there are open seams in the roof’s edges, vents, skylights, or air conditioning unit. You also need to do something about the tires. The RV’s wheel lug units and tire pressure are critical areas of concern if you expect to remain safe on the roads. These lugs tend to loosen when the RV is in storage, or after a long period of usage. Before setting out, you need the maintenance service to check that they are tight enough. The same applies to tire pressure, which tends to change with changes in temperature.
The battery will also need attention. You do not want to have to deal with a dead battery while out there. You need it fully charged at all times. You need to also check on the age of the battery. Normally, you will have to think of buying another when yours reaches three years of age. There is a need to plan for a need one then.
You should also do something about the wastewater system. You should not forget to keep the system well maintained. You do not want not want it clogging up on you.
You also need to do something about the RV’s brakes. Considering the size of an RV, you cannot risk it having its brakes in poor condition if it is to remain a safe vehicle on the road. If they start to show excessive wear and tear, replace them. Safety is a critical issue here.
An oil change is also part of the maintenance process. An RV does not need the oil change as frequently as a car. But you need to do so when the seasons change. If you do not, you can cause the engine to die. You should also do that for the air, fuel, coolant, and hydraulic filters. These ahold also be addressed at the oil change session.
